Having problem setting PreSet on Axis

I had presets disappear on a long-time-in-use P5415-E but I attributed that to moving to another Mac but when I try to reconfigure the presets, no go.
Also have a new P5635-E and can't set presets.
Cams are defined in SS using an Administrator login/password.

I can move the cam(s) but not save the preset. Home preset does work.

Using SS 4.0.8.

Because I moved stuff around I'm not sure if the problem is self-caused or not.

If someone can confirm that PTZ PreSet is ok, in particular for Axis, I'll keep digging to see what I screwed up in my move.

  • To check whether the problem is with SecuritySpy or elsewhere, please could you download and test SecuritySpy version 3.4.10. If presets work with 3.4.10 but not 4.0.8, we know that there must be a bug in SecuritySpy 4.0.8. Make sure to use the same username/password for the test.
  • Thanks Ben. Will do that later today. Some outside work first, while we finally have a non-rain day.
  • Have tried 3.4.10, no presets.
Have also gone back to a working backup HD with SS 3.1.3 and presets don't work and neither do the AppleScripts I used to set PTZ. I.e. presets would be defined already but the cam doesn't move when selecting button or AppleScript. Arrows move cam ok.

I'm assuming that SS sets it's own presets and does not use the ones saved to camera via direct browser connect?

Only other thing I did was update to Axis firmware 6.20.1.4.
The presets defined/saved in the cam work via Firefox browser and also via EyeSpyFX iPhone App.

I'm going to check my backtrack some more, short of changing firmware in cam, just to make sure I didn't miss a step.

My backup HD was licensed but the fresh 3.4.10 install I ran in DEMO mode when trying presets. Would presets be disabled in Demo mode?
  • Added license to 3.4.10, just in case.
    Still no PreSets.

Booted a recent Mac Mini backup that hosted my Indigo/Security Spy and was working. It had several presets set as I used them to have Indigo move Cam on a schedule via Applescript. Doesn't work anymore.

Only change was the Axis firmware upgrade to 6.20.1.4. Of course the PTZ Cam I recently added had 6.x firmware already. Don't know if that's causing the grief but highly suspect.

I don't know if I can downgrade the firmware. Will explore that next.

In the meantime I hope some other Axis PTZ user(s) can confirm all still good with theirs along with firmware in use. I think my previous was 5.4-something, but not sure.
That would at least confirm that firmware is the actual issue.

Have devised a work-around. Instead of Indigo calling SS, Indigo now uses a shell script with a one line curl command to change Cam to a new Axis preset.
  • I've also had this problem after upgrading the Axis FW as you state. Rolling it back did fix the issue. Also have a couple that come with 6.x as you describe... frustrating.
  • Frustrating indeed. Thank you for the confirm ecallis.
  • It does seem like Axis may have changed something in their firmware, that is unfortunate. If anyone can put one of their cameras online temporarily for us to test with, I'll be able connect from here and should be able to work out what is going wrong. If this is possible, please email us the IP address or DDNS name, and the camera's root login details.
  • I hope you got the credentials I emailed.
No hurry, just want to be sure you got in case needed.
  • Just following up on this older thread - we did discover a problem with SecuritySpy not issuing preset commands in certain circumstances - this is fixed in the latest beta version of SecuritySpy (currently 4.0.11b10).
