INSTEON cameras?

I recently came across SecuritySpy and was delighted to find that it works with my old Logitech and Insteon cameras. But I just got a couple of new Insteon cameras (the HD Outdoor model, which looks like a Foscam 9803) and can't establish a connection to SS with either. I can connect using Insteon's software, so I know they're working. I want to figure out if there are specific settings I need in SS, or whether I should return them and get something that's known to work with SS. They have an ONVIF port at 888 so just like the old Insteon cameras I set them up as ONVIF cameras, but SS can't connect. I haven't set any ports explicitly in SS, and I'm using the defaults in the camera, which has a fixed IP address. The log entry says:
Error communicating with the network device "Yard". 4.0.2,8440,32 Failed to obtain video frame from network device. Broken pipe (connected has been closed by the other side). [sic]
Can anyone state definitively whether this model works with SS (and if yes, the settings)? If not, what are the current recommended outdoor wifi cameras (HD, with night vision, but don't need PTZ)?
Thanks,
Mario

  • Mario,
Did you ever get the Insteon Cameras to work?
  • Other users have had success using the ONVIF profile and specifying HTTP port 888 (leaving the RTSP port setting blank). We unfortunately don't have a list of which particular INSTEON cameras will work with SecuritySpy, but as far as I know they are re-branded Foscam cameras, and pretty much all Foscam cameras work with SecuritySpy.

Generally, to get Foscam cameras working you would select the "Foscam H.264" profile, and specify either port 88 or 554 as the RTSP port (some use one, some use the other).
