Can't Record with audio

Hi,

I have 5 of Hikvision IP cams. However, after upgrade SS ver 4, SS can only record video without audio. I turn audio preview on, audio is OK.

While they had same setting ( camera and SS ) with SS ver 3, which were fine in recording with video and audio.

Hope someone can help.

Thanks.

  • I got everything worked out. Thanks
  • I have a system that will (after I finish installing them) have 8 Reolink RLC-410 cameras.
Currently, I only have 2 of them installed and running.

I can hear the audio from each camera on the Reolink Application, but not via Security Spy---recordings or live.

I am a new user so it's possible it's operator error:

What I've done so far, for each camera:
Device>Checked Recompress audio data from this device
Audio>Checked both Recording Options: Record audio with continuous capture movies, Record audio with motion-capture movies.

    Other possibly relevant info:
I have two instances of each camera set up in preferences. One for continuous capture (to hard drive) and a second for motion capture to my Dropbox folder, which in turn syncs these clips to the cloud.

I really want to get audio recording working.
  • Hi @careyd - a few things to check:

Firstly, make sure the "Audio device" setting in the Preferences -> Cameras -> Audio section is set to "This network device".

Secondly, check if the camera has options for different audio codecs (e.g. G.711, G.726, AAC) and try each in turn, saving the setting and quitting and reopening SecuritySpy each time.

Finally, check SecuritySpy's log (File menu -> Open Log) to see if there are any errors related to audio from this camera.

    Hi Ben,
Have done all of the above, except neither SecuritySpy nor the ReoLink Software (have tried both Mac and PC versions of it) allow me to select different audio codecs. Tryst trying setting things up with audio on and off (toggle in ReoLink client). Have tried recompress audio (and even video briefly---other than a dramatic increase in CPU usage this didn't affect ability for audio).

I can monitor and record audio via ReoLink client software only (which, BTW, is crappy software but it gets this right).

Also, just wanted to confirm that Reolink client MUST be configured to "Baseline" h.264 for SecuritySpy to see it. Both the Main and High profiles work fine with their client, but not SecuritySpy.

    So, still no audio. Frustrating.

Update: I've also configured a cheap USB webcam temporarily within SecuritySpy. I am seeing audio from that no problem. Able to preview audio from it. But the ReoLink Cameras have their audio "greyed out" in the Camera Info window. Seems SecuritySpy software or ReoLink API or ???. However ReoLink is sending that audio across I know SecuritySpy isn't seeing it.

  • Did this one get resolved for the ReoLink cameras? Having a similar problem.

  • Hi @etrust if you can email us at support@bensoftware.com and include SecuritySpy's debug file (SecuritySpy menu > Debug submenu > Create Debug File On Desktop), we'll check your settings. Let us know the name of the camera as displayed in SecuritySpy.
