"Decompress only when required" bug?
I have my cameras setup up for always on-continuous capture, and motion detect on a schedule to run overnight.
The new "decompress only when required" feature is great, as it means that when MD is off during the day, (and the computer is being used for other things), the CPU load is almost zero. Start up time when the live-view windows are brought up is short enough that it should be an absolute win.
However it looks like there's a bug in the recordings. Then MD is on (so videos are being decoded) the cameras record perfectly at 10fps. When MD is off, and the live-view is closed they only record a frame every 2 seconds or so - possibly they're only recording the keyframes?
This is happening in 4.0.4, with 2 different brands of camera, one wired, one wifi.

To clarify - are you saying that the continuous-capture movies are recording at 1 frame every 2 seconds, if motion capture is off and live-view is closed?
At what rate do they record when motion capture is happening or when the live view is open? -
Yes. as best I can tell (from checking recordings, when there would have been a forced decode or not):
when MC or live view is on they record at 10fps
when they're just recording in the background they record at about 1/2fps

Thanks for the clarification. Could you please let me know if you have the "Recompress video data" option enabled for this camera (in the Preferences -> Cameras -> Setup section). Thanks.

Recompress is off.

Hi Ben,
Can you add the ability to follow a thread, and if so desired, be notified when a comment is made? It would be nice if you are following a particular topic, to know when someone has updated it. Thanks. Have you seen how the XDA community runs their forum? -
Hi @DerekCa I believe that if you have commented on a thread, you will get an email notification when it is updated. There is no "follow" feature as such, but I'll see if we can add it.
As for the above problem, this is fixed in the latest version of SecuritySpy.
