Camera image shows severe pixelation that requires restart of SS
I have been using SS for perhaps 2 years now. Suddenly I am having problems with the monitored camera image from my Hikvision camera. The image becomes severely pixelated. The only fix is to shut down SS and restart it. This immediately fixes the problem. But then after a variable length of time (usually several hours or overnight) the problem recurs. I am running Mac OS X 10.10.2. If I view the camera image through a web browser or other means when the pixelation is present on SS, it does not appear on the other sources. Thus it does not appear to be a problem with the camera. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi John,
We have seen this kind of thing with other cameras (though not Hikvision as yet) where the camera changes resolution mid-stream, which causes corrupt video because SecuritySpy is still attempting to decode the images at the original resolution. Do you think this could be the case here? Does this happen at predictable times of the day (e.g. dawn or dusk, where the lighting is changing which might cause the camera to adjust)?
The best thing here is probably to first check for and install the latest firmware version available for your camera, as we find this often fixes problems. If it doesn't, please email us a screenshot of the pixellated image so that we can see for ourselves what it looks like, and we will investigate further.
To capture a screenshot, press command-shift-4 and select the area you want to capture. A file called "Screen shot" will appear on your desktop.
