Feature suggestion for motion detect
Hi,
When I view the motion detect files on my iPhone in landscape I get an 5 seconds forward button on the bottom right hand corner.
Would it be better to have a "Next event" button instead of 5 sec forward ? It would also be useful to have an "events count" number somewhere, maybe on the motion detect files list.

Hi James - when playing back a recording in the iOS app, simply swipe-left to go to the next file, or swipe-right to go to the previous one.
In terms of your "events count" suggestion, I'm not sure exactly what you mean here, could you describe this in more detail?

Yes, swipe left brings you to the next file. I'm not talking about files. I mean the motion detect events themselves.
For example over night there may have been 10 motion detect events in the one file. When looking back on a motion detect file it would be nice to have a "next event" button rather than a 5 sec forward button.
In the captured files view, i.e. the list of files when motion detect is chosen. It would nice to have the number of motion detect "events" against each file.

Hi James, ah I see what you mean now.
Currently, playback in the iOS app is based around files, not events.
Do you by any chance have the option turned on to record all events into one daily file for this camera? This option is not recommended due to exactly the limitation you are describing. If you turn this option off, what you end up with is 10 separate files overnight, which are then very easy to navigate between in the iOS app.
We may indeed switch to an event-based playback mechanism in the iOS app in the future, but this would be a major overhaul that would require a lot of work, and therefore is unlikely to happen in the near future.

Yes, I have the motion detect file setup as a 24 hour file. I'll try the one file per event option.

Hi James, great, I think you'll see the benefits after the switch. This option can be found under Settings > Cameras > Setup > Advanced Setup Options.

One more question. That's works well now with one file per motion detect event.
The filters for Human, Animal and Vehicle also work well. Ocassionally I get a false vehicle motion detection if something moves close to a vehicle in the drive way. For example if a shadow of a tree branch moves on the ground close to a vehicle it triggers a motion detect for the vehicle. Other than that it's 100%.
If there is a false motion detect, is there a way to tag it as false so the NN learns to ignore it ? I suspect there is no local NN learning, just what comes with that particular rev of security spy.

SecuritySpy's vehicle AI is very accurate (>98%) at determining whether there's a vehicle in the image, however it cannot tell the difference between a moving vehicle and a stationary one. Therefore, when you have a view where there is often a static/parked vehicle, you basically can't use the vehicle AI with motion detection, because it will give you exactly the outcome that you are experiencing, whereby other movement such as shadows/rain cause motion detection around the vehicle, and then the AI detects the vehicle, causing a trigger.
One solution is to turn off vehicle detection and use human detection only. With human detection, there is no similar problem of "parked" stationary humans to deal with.
A better solution is to use the new "presence detection" feature that is currently in development - this will be officially released in the next 6.16 version of SecuritySpy, but you can test this in the latest beta version (currently 6.16b7). This works differently from motion detection: the area of interest is sampled constantly, and you get a trigger when an object of interest (vehicle in this case) either arrives or departs. This is much better for vehicles in driveways/garages. The main limitation of this is that it works with one vehicle at once - it won't work when there are multiple vehicles in the detection area, since in this case, even when one leaves, there is another one that will be detected.
To set this up, specify the detection area under Settings > Cameras > Detection, add "Vehicle Arrives" and "Vehicle Departs" as triggers under Motion Capture and/or Actions as appropriate, and turn off the Vehicle option for motion detection. If you do test this feature, please provide your feedback.

Can you add mulitple presence detections so we can kinda use them as fake zones?

@killerdan56 - maybe in the future, but for now we want to first get this feature perfected and released in its current form, and we'll then consider enhancements based on user feedback.
