Solar/Battery Cameras with ONVIF?

I hate the idea of considering this, but I have a usecase where pulling a cable for PoE really isn’t all that easy but the location does get a Wi-Fi signal.


Any recommendations for a battery/solar powered camera that would work with SecuritySpy? Kinda limited on options and don’t like the idea from a tech perspective but it’s the easiest solution for the job I need. Thanks all.

    Unfortunately, solar/battery ONVIF cameras basically don't exist. SecuritySpy needs continuous video streaming from the camera in order to do its work, and the amount of power provided by standard solar/battery components that can be built into cameras cannot provide enough power for this. I have heard of users rolling their own solution, but this requires a large solar panel and large 12v battery to provide enough power. So, if it is at all possible to pull an Ethernet cable to this location, then this is going to be the best solution.

    Yea, kinda what I figured Ben. Thanks. What’s a good PTZ PoE camera that won’t break the bank and can withstand all sorts of temperatures?
