Is it worth upgrading to a 4K Cam?

happy Securityspy here. I bought expensive Axis cams back in 2007 and added some Dahua and other cheaper cams to the system. I should have stayed with Axis. Quality is just better. The dome cams are 1080P and that is enough for the inside cameras in my opinion. On the outside I can not read Number plates at 1080p and I wonder if it makes sense to upgrade. To be honest Its not really resolution its more lighting and bad reflexion. It will be a much higher bandwith load right?

    4K is significantly higher resolution than 1080p (double horizontal and double vertical, for a total of around 4x the number of pixels). But, resolution isn't everything - the camera's optical system, mounting position, lighting and so on can make a huge difference to quality. Perhaps it's best if you can post a full-sized image from this camera here in the forum - then we'll be able to advise whether upgrading to a higher-resolution camera will be worthwhile (in SecuritySpy right-click on the camera and choose the "Save Image" option).

    Yes, Axis are a good quality manufacturer, and although expensive, their products often outperform those of competitors.
