Security Spy remote access stopped working - Meraki Router
Hi, I have a Meraki router configured with port forwarding.
I have other services like PLEX on the same Mac computer that are working fine.
My Security Spy app is no longer able to connect to the server when not on my network. I have worked with Meraki who showed me the mappings are in place. The PLEX server and my BitCoin servers are accessible using the mappings in the meraki. The Security Spy software app on my iPhone is just shows me and error when I am off net "Connection Failed - Unable to connect to server).
nslookup returns the correct public IP address.
Any ideas what might be happening?

I have this problem as well, unable to connect to the my SS server (SS v5.5.5) from my iPhone (iOS 14.8.1) when away from home.
I still receive notifications from the server, but no image preview in the notification.
When I'm back at home the iOS app works fine, image previews return, and I can view my camera from the iPhone app.
The Mac Mini server (macOS 10.15.7, build 19H2026) running SecuritySpy is connected via ethernet to a Netgear gigabit switch, which connects via Ethernet to a Huawei modem, which connects via Ethernet to the fibre optic terminal (ONT) on the wall.
I have restarted all of them /disconnected them all from power, but the problem persists.

Did you try some using different port numbers instead.

These problems are quite individual as they depend on network setup, internet type and router configuration. The best advice I can give is to first follow the troubleshooting steps outlined in the FAQ I'm unable to access my system remotely - how can I troubleshoot this? If this doesn't solve the issue, please email us and include a debug file (SecuritySpy menu > Debug > Create Debug File On Desktop) as well as the make/model of your router, and screenshots of any manual port forwarding/mapping settings you have created in your router, and we will provide direct assistance to help you to resolve this problem.

I am unable to find the connection logs on my Mac even though I have checked the box to log every connection. I do not see in the guide where to find the logs. While I know that this used to work, that other applications are working with the firewall mappings, I would like to see if these login requests are even making through the router.
Thanks!

I did try several different port numbers. I have been using 8881 for some time and it was working in the past. Thanks!

Hi @jrosinski if you are referring to the log that SecuritySpy creates when you enable the "Write log file of all connections" option under Preferences > Web, this log is created in the ~/SecuritySpy/Web/ folder (i.e. the Web folder within the SecuritySpy folder within your user's Home folder).
If the connection is being rejected due to authentication, then what you will see in the web browser is a request to enter a username/password. If instead you are seeing a timeout or a connection failure message, then it's likely that the connection isn't getting to SecuritySpy in the first place, which would suggest a port forwarding issue.

FWIW, this has started working for me again over the past several days or the last week, but impossible to say exactly when as I hadn't had time to think about it.
I made no attempt to fix or change any settings, so the issue lay outside of my home network I believe.
