no keyframes recently

Hi James,
In order to effectively process the incoming video stream, SecuritySpy needs frequent key frames. These are self-contained frames that encode the entire image; subsequent to each key frames there are number of "delta frames" that encode only the changes in the image since the last frame. As they key frame interval (how many delta frames there are between each key frame) increases, it gets increasingly difficult to process the video stream, and SecuritySpy has an upper limit on this of 160. It's very unusual for cameras to reach this limit, but that's what seems to be happening in your case.
Does this camera have a web interface (i.e. can you connect to it by entering its IP address into a web browser), or does it just allow access via some kind of app? Can you see anywhere via its web interface or app some way to set encoding settings such as quality, bitrate, encoding type, or key frame interval?

I have this problem too, with Logitech Alert 700e cameras. I can't find any way of following any of the advice given to James as there is no way to adjust anything on the cameras other than via the Commander app, which is no longer supported. I have tried resetting and rebooting, that doesn't help. Today it has got steadily worse, most of the day has been spent with the black screen and either the Connecting message or the No keyframes recently message. I have virus-scanned, cleaned and rebooted the Mac, it's clear. I am in despair. I am in email contact with a knowledgable Alert repairman but so far his suggestions haven't helped. I really would hate to give up the Alert cameras, I tried others but ended up giving them away and going back to the obsolete 700e so scrapping them and starting afresh would have to be the absolute last resort. I am suspicious because this all started after the last Security Spy update, could something be incompatible? Any and all suggestions gratefully received.

Nothing in the recent SecuritySpy updates should have changed this behaviour, so it's surprising to hear that this is a new problem, for cameras that have been working previously. To check this, you could use the menu option at SecuritySpy > Debug > Change Software Version to go back to a few of the previous versions of SecuritySpy. But SecuritySpy's upper key frame interval threshold hasn't changed.
The other thing you could try is a factory reset of the camera to its default settings, and to set it up again.
You said "cameras" so is this happening on multiple of these cameras?

I had the same problem when I moved everything to an older iMac (2015) to use as a dedicated security camera recorder.. Tried lowering quality, changing codecs, bitrate etc etc. I run six cameras, all cable to the router and all but one ( the hi res camera) kept shutting down, reporting corrupted data, no recent key frames etc. Turned out it was the wifi not being able to cope. Hooked up to cable and all good again
