Curious CPU Spike
My Mac mini which runs SecuritySpy also runs other applications and I have noted that when movement is detected on the cameras there appears to be a minor blip (pause) in the other applications which I am guessing it CPU related (but could be network I suppose). What has me puzzled is that I see the same pause if I turn off motion detection and use continuous record for all cameras. The most obvious side effect would be on my Plex streaming which stops for about 0.5 seconds whenever there is movement on my drive - even when the cameras are set for continuous record and not motion detection. I tried turning off all the AI person detection as well.

Would anyone be able to determine if SS is doing some form of motion detection processing even if your not actually using it to record motion driven events - I have turned off everything to do with motion and AI processing yet I can replicate this problem where my Plex video stream pauses whenever the camera is "processing" movement on my drive.

This is curious! Motion detection will be performed for a camera only when you have the "Enable video motion detection" turned on under Preferences > Cameras > Triggers. You can confirm this in the Motion column of the Camera Info window, which will show a motion indicator bar if motion detection is happening, or simply a dash (-) when it isn't.
So please check this and report back. Besides motion detection and the associated initiating of recording, I'm not sure what could be causing these blips.

Ok - so this is odd. In addition to the 12 camera's that I have connected to SS from a Hikvision NVR. I turned off Motion but still had the pause. Now I also have a Netatmo Front Door camera which is not connected to SS but is linked to Apple HomeKit. I have the HomeKit app on my Mac mini server. When I physically turned off the Netatmo camera and repeated the test then "so far" I don't get the pause in Playback. Not sure how HomeKit notifies apps of events but so far this seems more likely. Hummmmm.

I did experiment with your home helper app with SS - I'm not using that at the moment - would it still be notified if some HomeKit event is triggered and if so is it safe to delete it ?

HomeHelper (which is SecuritySpy's interface to HomeKit) can control or receive input from a wide range of HomeKit accessories such as lights, alarm systems, contact sensors, door/window openers, occupation sensors, PIR sensors etc. It only does its job while running, so if you are currently not using it, and do not have any need for it, then deleting it from your Mac will have no negative effects.
