iOS app suddenly stopped working

The weirdest thing is going on: I can no longer connect to the SecuritySpy server on my iPhone. Meanwhile, my iPad, desktop SecuritySpy clients and web access work fine. I've deleted the server and tried to re-enter the credentials but now I'll I get is "Connection Failed Unable to connect to the server." I've restarted the phone, deleted SecuritySpy, reinstalled it. I can't figure out what the hell is going one. Help.

    FWIW, I tried connecting with the iPhone app using the viewcam address (which is working for the other clients) as well as the internal IP and external IP. Nothing works.

    This is very strange! There must be some difference in the connection method between this iPhone and your iPad. To see what this could be, go to the server list in the SecuritySpy app on each device, and tap-hold on the name of the server. A menu pops up that shows the addresses that the app is attempting to use to connect to the server. Do you see a difference here between your iPhone and iPad?

    Also on this screen, when your iPhone is on the same local network as your SecuritySpy server, you should see it pop up under an "Auto-discovered devices" heading. Do you see this?

    Ok so it’s fixed but I’m not entirely sure why it wasn’t working before. It turns out my iphone had joined my wifi guest network for some reason and I hadn’t noticed. So it wasn’t seeing the local SecuritySpy server and I kept having to fill in the details manually. I tried every manner of connection: internal IP, WAN IP, viewcam address. Nothing worked. Feels like it should have even if connected to the guest network. Nevertheless, switching the wifi network made the published server discoverable and I’m now connected. Weird. Thank you.

    The device being on a separate WiFi network explains the problem. The local (LAN) address wouldn't work in this case due to the separation of the two local networks, and if the router doesn't support a feature called "loopback", the viewcam.me WAN address wouldn't work in this situation either. Loopback is a feature in most (but not all) routers that allows connection from a client to a server using the server's WAN address when both devices are behind the same router.
