PTZ functionality from a port forwarded location
Hi,
I hope this has not been asked before, I have searched the forum quite a bit before posting
I have setup some Amcrest cameras at a location separate from where my SecuritySpy server is located. All is working well. I can see the cameras from the DDNS name as well as I put port forwarding logic in place for the RTSP service. I can see the cameras just fine. Continuous and motion detection are working. However, the PTZ functionality does not work. If I locate the server at the same location instead of remote, I can control the cameras just fine. My assumption is I need to put some more port forwarding rules in place. However, I cannot figure out which ones.
I have put rules for RTSP and the TCP/UDP ports that are listed in the configuration. The only ports I did not do are the HTTP/HTTPS ones. Is this where the PTZ commands are going?
BTW - I also tried this with the ONVIF port and could not even connect. I am currently using the Amcrest Profile type in SS.

Hi Eric,
The video stream operates over the RTSP port (usually 554), whereas the PTZ connection operates over HTTP port (usually 80). So you are correct that you need additional port forwarding rules in place to access each camera's HTTP port. Once you have these in place, enter the HTTP ports (i.e. the WAN/Internet ports you have set up in the port forwarding rules) in SecuritySpy under Preferences > Cameras > Device. -
