Quality issue

Hi

I'm new with Security Spy.

My primary use is uploading snapshots from my camera to ftp - it's working okay.

But the image quality is very low - how can I adjust this?

The resolution 1920x1080, and the filesize SS create is only 121KB - should be more than one MB I guess?

  • Sorry - compression settings of course :o)

Is't possible to adjust screen resolution?
  • Hi Plex, glad to hear you figured it out. What do you mean by screen resolution exactly?
  • I was wondering, if it's possible to define output resolution of the snapshot?

I'm using a windows software running in parallels, to create time lapse videos today.

Since Security Spy, has the ability to create it, I was playing with it. But I can't make it play fast enough like my current time lapse:

Is't possible to speed up the video?
  • Hi Plex,

Sorry it's not possible to specify a different resolution for FTP upload - the image will be captured and uploaded at the full resolution.

As for making a timelapse movie, yes you can do this in SecuritySpy. Go to the Continuous Capture settings for the camera, enable the continuous/timelapse movie capture, and specify a "Playback frame rate" that is faster than the capture rate.

One thing to note is this: if the camera is streaming MPEG-4 or H.264 format video to SecuritySpy, and the capture frame rate you want is different from the frame rate of incoming video from the camera (e.g. the camera is streaming at 10fps but you only want to capture one frame every second to the timelapse movie), then you must go to the Video Device Settings window and turn OFF the option "No recompression of data from this device". This is due to the temporally-compressed nature of these video formats.

    Hope this helps.
