If I do not include a quote in my reply, it is not accepted. Pressing "post comment" creates no error message, but the response is not posted to the thread. If I press "quote" and then reply below with a quote, it accepts the message. No idea here what's going on.

Very strange! No one else is reporting this, and I can't reproduce. We did update the forum software recently. Perhaps your browser has cached old files, and this is preventing it from working. Try a hard reload of the page (the procedure is different for different browsers - if you google this you'll find the trick for your browser).

FWIW: I am not on a VPN, as I see there were other comments implicating VPN usage. This is a standard residential IPv4 address.

OK, trying without forwarding a reply.

Hi @jtodd I just realised what was happening - our forum spam filter was flagging your posts as spam - possibly the IP address you were using at the time was flagged in some database. I've now marked your account to bypass the spam filter so it shouldn't happen again. Sorry about that! Let me know if you have any further issues.

Hi @Ben - thanks for looking. I'm not sure why I'd be marked as spam. This is a residential IP address on which I am the only user, with zero outbound SMTP other than SecuritySpy alerts going to a throwaway Gmail account which mails only to myself (I have fairly strict firewall rules outbound, and I'd notice a compromised internal device)

We use Akismet for filtering, which is normally extremely good. It uses multiple datapoints to determine spam content (IP, email, country, post content) so it's unclear which of these triggered it. I'm sure there's no problem on your end - it must have just been a freak mistake. You wouldn't believe how much spam posts and signups are attempted, so we need a robust filter in place. Shouldn't happen again for your posts!
