Video Doorbell Recommendations?
I'm thinking of replacing by current dumb doorbell with a video doorbell. I'm interested in one that doesn't require a subscription and can be easily integrated with Security Spy.
On Amazon I've noted an interesting device by AOSU but I can't figure out if it will work with SS. Would love to hear other's experiences.

I would recommend Amcrest or Dahua video doorbells. They are well-designed, don't require subscriptions, and work well with SecuritySpy. Looking at the AOSU range, these are unlikely to support the standard protocols (ONVIF/RTSP) that would allow them to work with SecuritySpy.

Thanks Ben. I'll check them out. I've already got a bunch of Amcrest cameras on my system so I'd probably go with one of them.

According to this article, the Amcrest AD410 is also sold as the Lorex 2K doorbell and as the Dahua DB6I.

My 2cents...
Doorbell cameras are rubbish in comparison to a 'normal' specced cctv camera. I would therefore get a doorbell from a manufacturer that integrates best into your home technology platform and get a separate cctv camera to survey the same area using SS

@kaps makes a good point. Doorbell cameras tend to be low-res, often highly distorted, and usually mounted in a position that is convenient for pressing the button but too low to get a good image. Sometimes it's convenient to use them, but better results can be obtained using a regular doorbell and separate camera.

For my use, a doorbell cam works really well.
My doorbell cam is at the driveway gate... It captures much better face and license plate images than the 5MP security cams looking at the gate from the house, maybe 80 feet away.
The license plates of vehicles that enter the driveway are maybe 10 feet from the doorbell cam, and the face of the person who rings the bell is about 3 feet from the cam.
SS records that stream 24/7, so I have a good, clear image of every license plate entering or leaving, and good closeups of the face of anyone who rings the bell.

Im getting in to this conversation a little late but i agree with the low res of most door cams being an issue. I have seen some newer offers from Hikvision in the 2 MP range also and come with an indoor monitor pad as well.
I have used a Hikvision Cube wireless cam for years with great success but lost connection with the cam last year and I upgraded to the newer 4 MP cam they have in the Cube version. I was unable to get it to go wireless and there is no browser connectivity. You have to use Hikvision software on PC to configure it I think. It’s too bad because this cam really worked well in the past sitting in my front window next to the door. I like that area because it didn’t attract bugs and didn’t require routine cleaning and no exposure to the elements outside.
Does anyone have a current recommendation for a wireless camera that would work in this situation? Unfortunately, there is no ethernet or POE in that area.
