What Folders / Files to backup up?

What files or folders do I need to backup to retrieve my settings. Not looking to retrieve captures videos, just those files of folders that would be required to restore my settings if I had to reinstall, like in the case of a total hardware crash and I reinstalled SS.

Thanks

  • In the SS desktop app, go to the File menu and select "Export Settings File".

"Import Settings File" to restore the settings.

  • Thanks, that's good for a manual backup of the settings.

But what I'm wanting to do is run an automated backup that would capture the necessary files/folders and copy them to an external drive.

  • Hi @duss SecuritySpy stores its settings in the standard location of ~/Library/Preferences (i.e. the Preferences folder within the Library folder within the user's Home folder). The specific file is called "SecuritySpy Preferences vXX" where XX is a version number. The easiest thing would be to back up all files in this folder, as it contains settings for other apps too, which may be useful.

    Thanks Again!!

    Just what I was after.
