SS 5.5.7 PTZ Presets in web interface
I've noticed since upgrading my version of SS to the latest 5.5.7 that the number of definable PTZ presets has increased from 8 to 10 presets. This is good. However, presets 9 & 10 are not available in the web interface.
Is this something that's on the upgrade list for a future revision?
Sorry, if this was brought up before... I did a search on the forum for this, but I didn't see any relevant topics on it.
Also, how do you (in the web interface) set a preset on an iOS device. I can't press the 'option' key while tapping on the preset due to no visible keyboard.
One further thing, as a side note, after I upgraded, I noticed that my existing presets on my cameras were off by one - that is on my older version of SS, preset 8 would go to a predefined location, but on SS 5.5.7, I would have to hit preset 7 to go to the same view. It's not a problem for me, just something to be mindful of for others.
Regards to all.

Oh also, as a future feature request, can we be given the option of overlaying the PTZ interface on top of the video like what I see in the iOS app?
While viewing live video in an iOS web browser is VERY useful, having to switch to another screen to control the PTZ is not as helpful.
And personally, in the main SS desktop application, I would prefer to the able to overlay the PTZ controls on top of the video window of EACH camera instead of having the the little popout drawer like right now. But, that's my preference - just thought I'd relate that.
Regards.

The lack of presets 9 and 10 via the web interface is an oversight - we'll make sure to add these in the next update.
There has been nothing recently that should have shifted the preset numbers by 1, but I think this is possible if you are coming from a significantly older version of SecuritySpy - was this the case? Sorry about this, I'm glad it's not a big issue.
It's currently not possible to set PTZ positions via iOS - just to recall them. I'll see if we can add this functionality in a future update, although this isn't an often-requested feature so I can't promise if/when this will be added. For now, you must set the presets via web or macOS.
In terms of PTZ control in iOS generally - we don't recommend you use the web interface in iOS - we recommend you use the SecuritySpy iOS app! This has all the functionality that most users will need, with a carefully-designed iOS interface. This will give you a much better viewing experience on iOS, including the overlayed PTZ controls that you are asking for.

Yea!😁

Yes, this was exactly the case. I can specifically say that the issue cropped up somewhere between version 4.2.12 and the current 5.5.7, though.

Since I (re)-discovered the iOS app, this isn't really a big issue for me now. The iOS app DOES work really well for controlling the cameras. When I first bought the iOS app (YEARS AGO) it didn't work too well with the version of SS I was using, so I forgot about the app. But, with SSv5, it works really well.
As for the feature, in general, I could see others needing it, though. I know it would've come in handy many times when I was using my old version. But, I realize that 'features' take time/money/effort/etc to implement... if there isn't a high demand... that's ok.

Oh, I agree. But, (for me only), I'd still like a transparent PTZ overlay in the full version of SS and the web interface for computers I use for viewing my cameras, though. But, it's not a high priority... maybe a 3 out of 10.
My reasoning for the request is that I have 5 PTZ cameras. I normally have the 'All Cameras' window open on my main computer with the PTZ draw visible. But, I have to keep on remembering that I have to FIRST click on a camera and THEN I can move over to the PTZ drawer to move that camera around. It would be MUCH easier & cleaner to just go to the camera I want to control in the 'All Cameras' window and just click a visible, transparent PTZ overlay control on that camera.
Sorry about this
No apologies necessary. Any of my above comments are not meant to be 'critical' and are only intended as discussion to make SecuritySpy better.
And, just so I say it out loud to everyone else, I think SecuritySpy is a GREAT software package. I've been using it for MANY YEARS and have recommended it to quite a few clients over those years. Bensoft has ALWAYS been very responsive to issues (WAY MORE THAN SOME OTHER DEVELOPERS) and truly wants to keep SS the awesome product that it is.
Regards to all.
