Clips
After using Blue Iris for a decade, I finally left the dark side and am now happily using SS with around 16 cameras. One thing I did with BI that I wish I could do with SS surrounds the video clips. Currently, with my SS setup, every trigger is a separate clip. In BI I had it set up to build 4 hour blocks of clips, meaning every trigger that occurred from 8 am until noon ended up as a single combine clip as did noon to 4 pm and so on. Is that possible to do with SS?

I'm glad to hear you discovered SecuritySpy and left the dark side!
Having each event stored in its own movie file has many advantages in terms of how the software can then manage and display these clips to the user, whether this is via the Browser, iOS app, web etc. It makes searching for and showing the clips fast and efficient.
There is a (now hidden) option to save all motion for each day into a single long movie file - this option can be found at Preferences > Cameras > Setup > Advanced Setup Options > Capture all motion into one day-long movie.
The main disadvantage of using this option is that you won't then be able to search by AI type (humans, vehicle, animals) when viewing recordings via the web interface or iOS app. You'll still be able to access the files themselves, so perhaps this isn't a big problem for you.

Thanks! In my usage model, the ability to scan quickly through hours of clips is a priority. As it is now set up, in order to do this, I must open every single event separately. The single day-long movie option will be useful for me. I am currently running both SS and BI. Just now, as I type this, BI crashed (again). Love SS!
