Update 5.5.3

Hi,

The new 5.5.3 update breaks the search for captured images and videos on another iOS app I use. Did you change anything regarding the API to get the results?

Thanks

Fabien

  • Hi Fabien, yes a few things have changed in this regard. What app are you using? We recommend you use the official SecuritySpy app - all other previous apps that work with SecuritySpy have long since been discontinued. If you need to revert to the previous release of SecuritySpy in order to continue to use your older app, you can use the menu option at SecuritySpy > Debug > Change Software Version.

  • Hi,

I'm using the Spyglass app. it's not maintained anymore since a few years, but I like it because I have two servers and the app allows me to have on one single scrolling page the cameras from both servers, it's very time efficient, and practical.

Also another thing I noticed is SecuritySpy for iOS is more slow to show the first image when you access the app. It could be because spyglass doesn't refresh the list of cameras or infos from server, but instead just tries to access the stream url directly, then winning some time.

Do you maybe plan to make it so that I could have some selected cameras from two different servers on the Cameras page?

    Fabien

  • Hi Fabien,

Yes, this is a significant difference between the two apps - in SecuritySpy, each server is separate. This is because some users have multiple servers, each with many cameras, and this quickly becomes unmanageable if all cameras from all servers are shown on the same screen. We are not planning to change the way this works in SecuritySpy.

If you want to continue to use Spyglass, then you will need to downgrade SecuritySpy on your server to 5.5.2, and avoid upgrading in the future.

  • I have three different Securityspy installations all running on Mac Minis. Two of these are running 5.5.1 on Monterrey. Neither of these allow search by date (using web interface). I get no results. If I don't enter any dates, then I get a list of captured videos and can scroll back as far as I want. Using the image browser on the host computer, allows me to see them as well.

I have one other system that is still running 5.3.4 (just haven't gotten around to updating) and it works fine for searching by date.

Is there a fix for this?

    -Mike

  • Sorry about this, it's a bug in the current release version that has been fixed in the latest beta version of SecuritySpy (currently 5.5.4b7), so please update to the beta. This will fixed in an official release shortly.
