EZVIZ DB1 doorbell trigger and audio

I bought a couple of these and have been able to successfully integrate the video into SS with the Hikvision profile. I'd like to be able to trigger actions off the doorbell press. Specifically I am using Cynical Security Spy to integrate with my Indigo home automation. A doorbell press could interface with my whole house audio, which would be better than just the doorbell or the phone alert. Is that possible? If not currently, is there an action exposed in the SW that you all could integrate?

Also, SS has a "send audio" feature. However, it doesn't send to this doorbell, or at least the audio does not come out of the device. Any possibility?

Thanks!

  • Unfortunately, we have previously tried and failed to integrate the button push action in SecuritySpy. It's not documented anywhere, it's not part of the usual event stream that SecuritySpy can consume (which contains things like IO port inputs and on-camera motion detection), and Hikvision have not replied to our requests for information on this. So for now the button is inaccessible to SecuritySpy.

Two-way audio should work, however. Check the camera's settings pages for any option to turn this on, and if there is a codec setting, make sure it's set to PCM or G.711.

  • Maybe you can do something with home bridge. Ask on reddit homebridge forum.

The EZ Viz cameras have worked well for the last year or so. However, while they seem to work fine with the EZViz app using the HikVision profile, they no longer show up in Security Spy. I checked the IP address, and they are assigned the correct static IP. I have rebooted the computer and the cameras. I'm using v5.5.8. I ran the autodetect profiles, and it came up empty.

Any thoughts? Could I downgrade to a prior v5 of SS and see if that works? Where would I find a prior version?

  • Has the firmware been updated recently on the cameras? I haven't heard of newer firmware versions making Hikvision cameras inaccessible, but it's a possible explanation if this was working previously.

It's unlikely to be down to the SecuritySpy version, but if you would like to try some of the recent previous version of SecuritySpy, you can do so via the menu option at SecuritySpy > Debug > Change Software Version.

The correct device setup in SecuritySpy should be to enter the camera's IP address, and select the "Hikvision" profile. Generally, the port boxes should be left empty unless you have set some non-standard ports on the camera, and the SSL options should be turned off.

  • Tried deleting port 544 and downgrading to 5.5.5. No luck. I contacted EZViz and they deny breaking it with a SW upgrade. So who knows.

  • Since you are in touch with EZVIZ support, perhaps you can ask them what RTSP URL the camera with its current firmware will respond to, and whether this has changed in recent firmware versions? Please report back here, and I can let you know how to use this URL to set up the camera manually in SecuritySpy.
