HomeHelper - Connection to HomeKit failed
Hi,
I tried to install HomeHelper to connect to HomeKit, but first an upgrade of SecuritySpy v5 was needed.
After the upgrade, HomeHelper gives the error message "Connection to HomeKit failed". How can I solve this?

I'm not immediately sure what this could be, as it hasn't been reported by any user until today, when we now have your report plus one other user's report of the same thing. If you open Apple's Home app on this Mac, do you see all accessories and have control of them there? What macOS system version are you running (you can check this via the Apple menu > About This Mac).

Yes, the Home app can be used fine on the Mac mini on which SecuritySpy and HomeHelper apps are running. I turned on a light and that was working. The macmini7,1 is running under macOS Monterey v12.2.1.
At the first start of HomeHelper, the access to HomeKit has been set to No because SecuritySpy hadn't been updated. Possibly that could be the issue.

Solved
within the System Preferences - Security & Privacy - Privacy - HomeKit -> HomeHelper was not activated
(this option was not present in Mojave or Catalina)

Great to hear it was an easy solution, this must be a new security setting in macOS.
