Assign Audio From Another Camera?

I guess that this is a feature request I have been thinking about for a few years and finally speaking up...

It would be helpful in several circumstances to assign and/or share audio from one network camera to another. This would be just like the existing settings of assigning the Mac input audio to the captured video of a camera, but expands that selection to the audio of any camera already setup. A good example would be a weatherproof camera high on a pole looking over a backyard and the audio from another (non-weatherproof) camera under a porch that would be shared.

Axis Communications has a network device that does this on a 1:1 basis, but only with a limited few of their cameras. That would indicate that the coding is possible. Now make it all accessible on the backend with SecuritySpy. HA, but I am not a programmer and maybe Ben is already mumbling expletives under his breath just reading this.

Anyhow, it is just a thought...

Peace,

Dr. Z.

  • Hi Zeigh,

Thanks for the suggestion. This is an interesting idea, and I do see the utility of such a feature, at least for a minority of users perhaps. I'll take a look at the feasibility of such a feature - it's certainly possible, but there are some problems that I can foresee (e.g. complicating the UI, and difficulties syncing the audio to the video).
