Your human/ car AI is great...
New feature request - It would be great to have an AI program stopping motion capture recording of moths/flying ants even spiders etc attracted by the infra-red at night and flying around. They're very bright on the camera - and adjusting the sensitivity means we could lose other events. I can send example videos if you want/when you want it.
Thanks. Peter

  • Hi Peter,

Yes this can be a nuisance - these objects fly close to the camera and, with built-in IR illumination, are bright and can cause false-positive triggers.

But, this is exactly the kind of thing that the human/vehicle AI is designed to ignore. It will cut out almost all such false-positive triggers.

And, while it would be possible to create an AI to specifically detect these kinds of objects, and then ignore any motion that was identified as such, this wouldn't be desirable because if this happens at the same time as a "real" event (i.e. a moth flies past just as a human walks into view), then the event would be ignored, resulting in a false-negative detection.

Apart from using the existing AI, the best thing to do to avoid this is to turn off the camera's built-in IR illumination, and instead install a separate IR illuminator some distance from the camera. This will likely illuminate the scene far better (as they are generally much more powerful), but will also cut down these false-positives, since the area just in front of the camera will no longer be illuminated.
