Missing captures
I have setup my SS so that it records 5 seconds pre the motion detection and then records for 30 seconds. The incoming frame rate it 12fps and i am saving at 12fps. The problem I notice is that if motion is detected just at the end or just after the initial recording has completed I’m not getting another motion detection recording immediately after the first one to compete the movement on camera. I am getting my video from a DVR which is itself recording everything- but I would like the SS motion detection recordings to be consecutive and not miss anything where the detected movement is longer than the initial recording time. Is there some minimum time between recording setting which I’m missing ?
Thanks
Dave

To clarify what seems to happen is that when motion is detected it starts recording and will continue to do so while motion continues to be seen. However once motion stops the "post" recording timer begins at that is also recorded - however - if during the post recording section more motion occurs - it does not seem to trigger a new recording. Or at least that's my impression. It's easier to spot the longer the post recording time is.

Hi Dave,
During recording, whenever there is more motion, the post-capture timer is reset. So the recording should continue until 30 seconds after the last bit of motion was detected. From what you describe, what must be happening is that the motion you are seeing towards the end of the recording is not enough to cause another trigger and reset the post-capture time. What I would suggest is to increase the post-capture time (e.g. to 45 or 60 seconds) - this cuts down the chances of missing anything that you would want recorded. -
Thank you Ben - I will give that a try. Just need to convince the wife to walk up and down the drive for a few mins for a test :-)
