Video cropped during playback

I'm new to SS checking to see if I want to pay for the license. I have some general questions about recording and playback which I will ask in a separate thread, but I also have a specific question about a camera I just finished setting up.

The camera is a Dahua 4MP Varifocal 2.8-12mm. I am using it partially zoomed to watch a limited area. When I view the live feed, the date/time display shows correctly in the upper right corner of the image. But when I play back captured video the image is cropped such that the date is displayed but most of the time is off screen with gray borders on the left and right sides of the video. If I pause and capture a frame and save as a JPEG then view the JPEG, the entire screen is displayed, including the full date and time.

Is there a playback setting that crops the image? If so how do I turn that feature OFF?

I only see this issue with the one camera. Another Dahua, a GW Security and a Hikvision camera all display the full image on playback. All playback is in the SS Browser.

  • By default, the Browser displays the whole image, using borders as necessary to avoid cropping. However, the Browser does have a zoom feature whereby you can position the mouse anywhere over the image, hold the Command key on the keyboard, and scroll up/down on the mouse or trackpad to zoom in/out. Could you be triggering this feature, perhaps accidentally? Because this is the only reason why images should be cropped upon playback in the Browser feature.

If this isn't the problem, could you please email us a screenshot of what you are seeing, as well as a full JPEG image of the whole view, and we will investigate this further.
  • I can zoom in on the captured video but I can't zoom out. It appears to be full frame.

I just sent you an email with screen shots of the live feed and a frame of the captured video. There is also a JPEG export of the captured frame. Please let me know what you think.
