ONVIF RTSP timing out

Having changed nothing I am aware of, my 2 cameras (same type) have started disconnecting and reconnecting. One is every 2 minutes and the other every 4 minutes. I am using ONVIF with RTSP. I have tried also RTSP with UDP but it makes no difference. Anyone any ideas what could have gone wrong and how to remedy? Thanks.

Between the timeouts, do you see the video stream coming through OK (i.e. the stream is not completely offline all the time, but rather it's online only for a short time before timing out and reconnecting)? Assuming this is the case:

    - Try rebooting the Mac, cameras, and any network hardware (e.g. switch) between the Mac and the cameras.

    - If the cameras are connected by WiFi, then this is a likely culprit. Make sure the signal is strong, or if you can, connect them by wired Ethernet instead.

    - Likewise, your Mac should be connected by wired Ethernet rather than WiFi. The ideal network setup is to have one high-quality Gigabit switch (e.g. Netgear) that forms the centre of your network, with all other devices (router, Mac, cameras) connecting into this switch.

    - Other things to check include that the cameras have the latest firmware installed, and any Ethernet cables you are using are high quality and defect free.

I hope this helps you to resolve the problem, if not please let me know.
