Unable to see H.295 stream from Hanwha QNV-8080R
I'm a little confused about the mapping between what this camera calls "Profiles" and what Security Spy calls "Streams."
The camera lists 5 profiles, one of which is selected. Security Spy seems unaware of this selection, but you can manually choose any of 4 streams, which can be found with the "Auto-Detect Streams" button or by trying each of the 16 possible streams manually. The 4 streams available do not include the H.295 profile:
MJPEG - JPEG - 2592x1944
H.264 - H264 - 2592x1944
PLUGINFREE - H264 - 1280x960
MOBILE - H264 - 640X480
These correspond to Profiles in the camera -- just the H.295 one is missing, even though it is selected and marked as "Default" in the camera setup.
Note that stream 1 (MJPEG), the default when you first set up a camera in Security Spy, does not work, the image is garbled. This hung me up for a while, until I realized I had to select a different stream.
The H.264 stream is working fine-- not sure what the advantage of H.265 might be, but one always seems to want the newest and best...

It's a little unusual for the camera to present the JPEG stream first, but it's good you worked this out and switch to the H.264 stream instead.
Sometimes, cameras will present ONVIF streams names labelled "H.264", but will actually deliver H.265 data if this format is select in the camera's settings. So check the "Format of Incoming Video" column in the Camera Info window in SecuritySpy to see what format is actually being receive from the camera as you change the stream number setting in SecuritySpy.
The other thing to try is the "Hanwha Techwin" profile available in SecuritySpy, rather than the ONVIF profile. This one also has different stream numbers to choose from, so try a few to see if one delivers H.265 data at full resolution.
The main advantage of H.265 is a data rate about half that of H.264 at an equivalent visual quality. The other advantage, if you are using an M1 Mac, is a significantly higher capacity for processing H.265 data vs. H.264 data, allowing you to use more cameras / higher resolution / higher frame rates (this is not the case for Intel Macs). -

Thanks so much for the tip about the additional fields in the Camera Info window. Yes, the Hanwha Techwin profile has H.265 full res on stream 3. And I do have an M1 macmini.
