I continue to try to keep my 2012 Mac Pro going. I'd like to upgrade to Mojave. Would I get any benefit from an Nvidia Geforce GT 640 1GB graphics card? I currently have an ATI Radeon HD5770 1GB stock card. Mac Pro is 2 x 2.4 Xeon, 32 GB RAM, SSD boot drive and two 4TB WD purple HDDs in software RAID0. Running High Sierra and 35 cameras at 10 FPS. Thank you.

This has been asked a few times now, so I have made a FAQ to answer this question: Will upgrading my Mac's graphics card (GPU) improve performance?.

The short answer is "maybe, but it's uncertain".

If you do decide to go for a GPU upgrade, please report back and let us know if you see an increase in performance and/or reduction in CPU usage (you can take metrics from Activity Monitor before and after to compare).
