Protect recordings from being deleted with password in browser.

Hello,

There is a setting to lock settings, arm/disarm and app quitting. I activated that. It works but the user can still delete recordings in the browser. How to stop him/her from deleting the recordings from Browser?

@ibnahmed, what privileges did you give the user account that is deleting the files?

When you create a user account for the server, there are many permission check boxes that allow you to give the user various privileges. One of them is "Delete Captured Footage". Uncheck this box and the user should not be able to delete footage.

Thanks. I am not interested in the web server. I am talking about main application browser.

So, is this like a new feature request? or this functionality already exists in SS?

This functionality does not yet exist - the password specified in the Preferences does not cover deleting files. However I think it should cover this, so we'll consider making this change for the next update.

However it would still be relatively easy for a user to locate and delete the file in the Finder, so such a feature may not be very useful - please let me know what you think about this.

Technically yes. Any user who is logged in can also locate and delete the file from Finder. Maybe, however, you can also disable "show in finder" menu.

I am asking because my user is not that good with computers and will be difficult for him/her to find the file in Finder!. Not the best security measure i guess, but still i appreciate if it can be added.
maybe i can make the fold a .folder. I have to test whether SS can actually record in a . folder.
