1fps and no option but MJpeg with Hikvision 2CD2732F
Ben.. am installing three HIkvision cd2732F dome cameras, intend to use with security spy. When viewed on a browser or recorded from the browser using Hikvision plug in (Safari, OS X 10.10.5), the motion is fluid and records at better than 20fps. However, when operating through security spy, only records at 1fps. The video stream set on the camera using the hikvision software is H264. (this is the only option available for this camera). When I set security spy to H264, there is no image. When I set security spy to MJPEG, it gets the image, but only records at 1fps. I have the recompression of data setting "off" in security spy. Help... 1fps is a problem.

PS... it is being operated on a Mac Pro with 2x2.93 GHz 6 -Core Xeon's, 16GB Ram... should be able to do this one would think?

The Mac is most certainly up to the job. The problem will be solved by getting the H.264 stream working, as this is provided at a much higher frame rate than the MJPEG stream with Hikvision cameras.
What error do you get when attempting to obtain the H.264 stream? Check the Log.txt file, which you'll find in the SecuritySpy folder within your Documents folder, for full descriptions of the error message. If you copy and paste a few of them here we can help you interpret them. -
Ben
this is the only notation the log enters when I set security spy to H264. (No video)
(as above, when I set SS to MJPEG, i get picture but slow... Hikvision setting on the camera is always H264)

Ben... just to be clear
the selections on ss that I am using are:
H264 RTSP ... get no video image
JPEG HTTP ..... get a video image at 1 fps
The selection on the Hikvision camera setup is just "H.264" (only option offered).
This camera has no sound.

Hi Jon,
Please check the following:
- Have you selected the "Hikvision" profile from the list of devices under "Device type"?
- Make sure to leave both the port boxes empty, unless you have set up the camera with non-standard HTTP or RTSP ports for some reason.
The other thing is that you're using a slightly old beta version of SecuritySpy. This has now been superseded by the 3.4.8 release, which you can get from the SecuritySpy download page. So please quit your current SecuritySpy and download and install this new one instead.
If you still can't get it to work, please open SecuritySpy and press the space bar three times in a row - a file called "SecuritySpy Debug File" will appear on your desktop - please email it to us and we'll investigate further. -
Ben
left port boxes empty, hikvision is selected for camera1, and installed latest version.
Same problem (about 1fps recording). I will email you the debug file.

Hi Allmorro, after selecting from the "Format" drop down menu "H.264 RTSP";
Within the Hikvision Device type (driver/profile) under: "Settings-Video Device Settings-Network Devices"
Please try changing the "Input Number" (i.e No 2) below, covered in the User Manual here: http://www.bensoftware.com/securityspy/manual/#i2input (click up-arrow at descriptions end for a screenshot).
As most cameras Device type settings in SecuritySpy, must match/mirror the cameras (instead of directly control them).
So you'll need to try Input Number 2 (in SS) to receive (the H.264) Profile 1 or 2 on the camera.
If this doesn't work, try updating firmware, and try again.
Finally, if neither of the above helps, try the ONVIF Device type, but clicking its "Get Profile List" button, to auto-configure (Port No, Format, & Input No) for the camera.
