FTP vs. Capture destination

edited August 2014 in SecuritySpy
I have a Synology DS213j NAS set up for storage and it's mounted on my iMac running SS. Is there a reason that I would choose FTPing into the NAS as opposed to just setting the folder destination in the camera settings "Capture destination"?

  • FTP is for off-site backup for captured footage, in case the recording computer/drive is damaged or stolen by an intruder.

In your case it sounds like you should simply be mounting the disk on your Mac and setting it as a capture destination in SecuritySpy. SecuritySpy will then record everything directly to the NAS.

    Hope this helps!
  • It makes perfect sense. Thanks for the quick reply!
