Update software from 2015

Hi Ben,

It has been a while since my first 2015 Version 3.4.5b6 package which I had updated to Version 3.4.8 running on a 2009 Mac Mini Server on El Capitan. It is still running 24/7 by the way, as are most of the Dahua cameras. º¿º

I'm considering retiring the Mini Server and running Security Spy on a OS Montiray Mac Air and wondered which update package would I need and would my cameras fit?

All good wishes

  • Good to hear that you got such great longevity with this older machine and older version of SecuritySpy!

In terms of a new Mac, you can run SecuritySpy on a MacBook however it's not the ideal machine, because laptops usually get put to sleep often and get moved around. For SecuritySpy, a Mac mini is usually the best choice. However, if your MacBook will be always awake, always at the location of the cameras, then it certainly can be used to run SecuritySpy.

In terms of storage, consult our system requirements calculator, which will advise you the best storage to use (usually an external USB-connected SSD).

When you are ready to upgrade your SecuritySpy license, you can do so via our upgrade store, taking advantage of your 25% existing-user upgrade discount.

I'd be happy to answer any further questions you may have.

  • Thank you!
