No Remote Access on Wired Connection

edited September 2021 in SecuritySpy
Oddly when computer is on wi-fi I can access via SS iOS app inside or outside of my network. However, when I configure computer for ethernet access, I can see I get an IP and computer shows xxxx.viewcam.me with a green light, but the app won’t connect. Using default 8000 port on a eero Pro router; uPnP enabled. Ideas?

  • Switching between WiFi and Ethernet will change the Mac's local (LAN) IP address, which is probably interfering with the automatic port forwarding that SecuritySpy is setting via UPnP. I would recommend that you have the Mac connected by Ethernet at all times, with WiFi turned off to avoid any conflicts. Then, if remote access isn't working, try a reboot of the router, which will clear any previous UPnP port forwarding rules. Then SecuritySpy should be able to configure port forwarding to the Mac's Ethernet IP address.
  • That did the trick! Thank you; by now I should know, reboot, reboot, reboot…….
