The easiest way to set up a wireless network camera is to temporarily connect it to an Ethernet network. Connect the camera to an Ethernet switch or directly to your computer using an Ethernet crossover cable, and follow the intructions given in Setting up network cameras. Remember to disconnect the camera once you have finished setting it up, as many cameras will not connect wirelessly unless you do this. In addition to assigning a manual IP address for the camera, you will need to enter information about your wireless network.
Also known as the ESSID or network name. If you have an AirPort equipped Mac, this is the name that appears in your AirPort menu.
Many wireless network cameras require you to choose a wireless channel number. If this is the case, make sure that your wireless access point or router is set to the same channel, and is not on an automatic setting.
These must match the wireless encryption settings of your wireless access point or router. | ||||||||
