Sound input

SecuritySpy can record audio to go with the video from your cameras. You can connect one or more microphones to your Mac, and each one can be assigned to any number of cameras in SecuritySpy. You can also set SecuritySpy's motion detection feature to be triggered by sound as well as video.

This page describes the different sound input devices you can use to connect microphones to your Mac.

Built-in

Most Macs have a built-in audio input. In addition, many video input devices also include sound inputs.

USB

The cheapest and easiest way to add an audio input is with the excellent Griffin iMic. However, you can only use one iMic at a time.

FireWire

Many FireWire audio interfaces are available, including multi-input interfaces such as the M-Audio FireWire 1814 and the Metric Halo Mobile I/O 2882.
