Analogue cameras are typically used in conventional CCTV systems. You can connect them to your Mac with video input hardware.

A huge range of analogue cameras are available, including infra-red, wireless, and miniature cameras, all of which can be used with SecuritySpy.

For general purposes, we recommend that you choose bullet cameras based on the Sony ExView HAD CCD, which perform well in low light. We aren’t able to recommend specific makes and models, as the market for analogue equipment varies considerably from country to country, but cameras of this type are available from most CCTV retailers.

Black and white models are worth considering, depending on your requirements, as they are even more sensitive in low light. Infra-red models can be useful in near-darkness, but only use them if necessary, as the images they provide tend to be somewhat blurry.

We don’t recommend the use of wireless analogue cameras in most circumstances, as the image quality may not be consistent, and the wireless signal is not secure.
