Why do we have two different payment options?
Option 1: payment is in British Pounds (GBP) and is taken by Nochex. Nochex is a major UK-based payment processing company. When you purchase using this option, you are purchasing from us, and Nochex is the company that processes the payment on our behalf.
Option 2: payment is in US Dollars (USD) and is taken by Kagi. Kagi is a large well-respected US-based online store. When you purchase using this option you are purchasing from Kagi, who are resellers of our software products.
As a UK company, we pay substantially higher fees to receive payments in US Dollars compared with payments in British Pounds and therefore we include in our US Dollar prices a small premium to partially cover these higher fees. You can use either option wherever you live and whatever currency your credit card is in, but it is generally better for all customers to use Option 1 due to the above reason. It doesn't matter if your credit card is not in British Pounds; you will be charged in your local currency and your credit card company will do the currency conversion.
Paying using a Purchase Order
If you wish to pay in US Dollars using a purchase order, you should use Option
2, as Kagi have a system for dealing with purchase orders and this will
ensure that your payment is processed quickly. If you wish to pay in any other
currency please send your PO by email to support@bensoftware.com
and we will invoice you directly.
Information about VAT (sales tax)
We are not registered for VAT in any EU state, because our revenue from each
EU state is below the threshold that requires us to register. Therefore, we
do not charge VAT for customers in any EU country. Kagi, on the other hand,
is registered for VAT in all EU states (since they resell software from thoudands
of developers, their revenues from EU states are above the VAT registration
thresholds) - this means that Kagi have to charge VAT to customers in EU states.
Therefore, it is always better for EU customers to use Option
1 because you will not be charged VAT. VAT or sales tax in the US and elsewhere
in the world is not applicable, as the software is distributed as an internet
download, and we are located in the UK.
