Camera sensitivity to lighting changes
  • My cameras (ACTi) capture light changes as motion events. Lights going off/on inside seen through glass, and car headlights of passing cars trigger motion events. Is this a matter of sensitivity adjustment or is this normal? I would like to cut down on these events being captured.
  • This is pretty normal - passing lights from a car looks like any passing object to the motion-detection algorithm. As for lights going off and on through glass, is this a small area of the video frame? If so, you can use the mask feature to mask out the area so it won't trigger recording. The other thing you can do is increase the "trigger time" setting, so that short events (e.g. a light going on) won't cause a trigger. Try 2.0 or 2.5 seconds to see if that helps.
